Access and Navigation in www.geking.com

To improve your experience in browsing our website, we strive to accomplish three goals:

3. Each page contains appropriate navigation links to within and between sections

The W3C standards

We post the W3C compliance logos on each page. This shows you the standard we adhere to and allows you to test that compliance by clicking on the logos. We believe this gives the best possible browsing experience.

Navigation

To preserve the clean lines of our site design (1920's industrial design), we have foregone the "traditional" buttons and tabs. Instead, at the top and bottom of each page are text links that provide navigation within the particular section of the site, a return to the home page, and a link to our Contact Us page:

Every internal page contains links to all the pages in each section, with the link for the current page 'grayed out'. If the section contains only a single page (at the moment - we are always growing this site), as the example above demonstrates, the entire line is grayed out. The home page provides a short description of each section of the site, and a link to the main page of each section.

In order to make your visit as productive as possible, we have also included a set of links at the end of each major element on each page. These links provide a return to the top of the page in order to choose other elements, or to move to another page in the current section. There is also a link to return to the home page, so the visitor who wishes to do a quick 'once-over' of the site is able to do so quickly:

The Look

The pages in the site are constructed to take up an 800 pixel by 600 pixel space, which allows the site to be viewed without side-scrolling on an older CRT monitor set to minimum screen resolution. At the same time, the pages should be easily readable on a flat display at the highest resolution. The default font-size is the setting for the visitor's default font-size (i.e., 100%). Visitors who wish to can substitute their own fonts, color schemes and font-size. This may change the layout of pages and may produce side-scrolling. Visitors who employ browsers that take a significant amount of display space with their own menus ("chrome") may find some side scrolling is necessary.

In the 1920's, about the time that many marketing concepts were first articulated and put into use, a renaissance in industrial design was taking place. In Europe, this renaissance was both led and represented by the Bauhaus. Because of the synchronicity and the clean, clear look of the period, we have adopted the style for this website. Specifically, we patterned the over-all design on airline promotional materials from the 1920's. In addition, we have included illustrations of standard marketing analysis tools where appropriate.

Finally, we believe that businesses should be easy to reach, so our telephone number and email address is included on every page. In order to circumvent spam harvesters, our email addresses are always in a graphic file, so they can be ready only by people. We have also included an email form in our "Contact Us" page, for the visitor's convenience.
